What gear should i start off with if ima street race at a light?

okay i have a v6 firebird yes a v6 lol. i know you guys are gonna tell me i shouldn't be racing a v6 but i kept up with my friends v8 mustang so i think i got some chances on beating some people. and its just fun to mess around. so should i start off in 3 Or drive? or should i do something else. i need tips for a good take off.
